PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TAKEN BY METRO RAILWAY DURING CYCLONE ‘DANA’

Kolkata, Date: 23.10.2024

With the cyclone  ‘Dana’ gaining strength and expected to  have adverse impact o­n  Odisha and West Bengal specially in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas and Howrah, Metro Railway has taken adequate measures to ensure  normal services as well as safety  and  security  of commuters. All the Railway personnel to be deputed during ‘Dana’  have been advised to remain vigilant to   meet any eventuality. The stabled rakes  will  be secured properly  so that rakes do not roll down.  The shutters will be lowered down to close down the entry /exit gates of  sheds/bays in four Depots of Metro Railway, Kolkata.

Battery locos and ART vans will be kept ready to work with staff and equipment including emergency lights and generators.   Staff will be kept ready with power saws, diesel and generator sets in all the Corridors  for removal of tress/branches/foreign material if found lying o­n the tracks. For all underground stations, all the central drains are being cleaned properly so that there is no waterlogging problem.
