PRESS RELEASE
METRO TICKETS NEAR YOU
Kolkata, 05.10.2024 :
Here is another good news for Metro commuters!
For the first time in this Puja, commuters will be able to travel under the river Ganges till around midnight for hopping pandals in Kolkata, Howrah and adjoining districts without bothering about the rush outside. They are really delighted to get this opportunity. For doubling their joy, Metro authorities have brought another amenity for them in the form of Hand Held Terminals. These Hand Held Terminals would enable commuters to purchase their QR Code Based tickets without standing in the long queues in front of the booking counters. These terminals would act as mobile booking counters anywhere in the non- ticketing areas like on the staircases, in front of the luggage scanners, AFC-PC gates, entry gates of the stations, in corridors etc. of different Metro stations.
It is expected that during the Puja days pandal hoppers would prefer to use Metro Railway to reach their favourite pandals. In order to manage that surge of passenger count these Hand Held Terminals would act as an alternative ticketing solution.Passengers will be able to use these terminals to purchase their tickets at Dakshineswar, Dumdum, Belgachhia, Shovabazar-Sutanuti, Esplanade, Rabindra Sadan, Jatin Das Park and Kalighat stations of Blue Line as well as Howrah Maidan and Howrah stations of Green Line-2. Total 23 Hand Held Terminals will be used on trial basis in these stations for the benefit of the commuters. Metro staff will move around in the non-ticketing areas outside the booking counters in these stations so that commuters can purchase their tickets without wasting any time by paying the fare in cash. These terminals can also check the validity of QR Code Based Tickets and other details.
