METRO RAILWAY OBSERVES WORLD HEART DAY


Kolkata, Date: 30.09.2024


Metro Railway observed World Heart Day today o­n 30th September, 2024 at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital in presence of Principal Chief Medical Officer (PCMO) and other doctors. In this year, 2024, the World Heart Day theme is “Use Heart for Action”. This theme highlights a shift from awareness to empowering with a clear purpose and goal.


          In this programme, Dr. A.K. Prasad, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital delivered a speech regarding the risk factor (modified and non-modified Risk Factors) associated with cardio –vascular diseases like physical inactivity, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Hypertension, Tobacco use, High Sodium Intake, Obesity, Mental Health, Air Pollution, Sound Pollution etc.


He emphasized o­n the six health numbers which o­ne should know regarding good health.  He suggested ten simple steps towards a healthy heart like Eat Well, Exercise, Say Not to Tobacco, Maintain a Healthy Weight, Steps to Reduce Stress, Manage Blood Pressure, Diabetes etc. Forty railway beneficiaries attended this programme.


PCMO concluded the session with a positive note o­n World Health Day.
