KOLKATA METROINTRODUCES INTEGRATED MOBILE BASED QR TICKETING SYSTEM on TRIAL BASIS

Mobile Based Integrated QR Code Ticketing System has been introduced on trial basis in Kolkata Metro from today i.e. 11.09.2024. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has introduced this newticketing system on trial basis at a function at Kalighat Metro station today in the presence of other senior Metro officials. Shri Reddy has expressed his hope that this ticketing system would be beneficial for Metro commuters as they would be able to purchase their tickets at their convenient time without standing in the queues and interchange Corridors with that QR Code Based tickets. He also requested all to download 'Metro Ride Kolkata' app from Google Playstore and App Store to use this ticketing system. This system introduced on trial basis will make commuting in the Metro during the forthcoming Puja days more comfortable and enjoyable, he added.
This alternative Integrated Mobile Based QR Code Ticketing System has been initiated on trial basis in Blue Line, Green Line-2 and Orange Line. From now on passengers will be able to travel to any station across these Corridors by interchanging through seamless common paid to paid connectivity using the same Mobile Based QR Code Ticket by purchasing it from home, office or on the go. With the help of this, passengers can avoid the long queues at the booking counters. This paperless ticket will remain valid for 12 hours in a single calendar date after purchasing. Now, the commuters no longer need to carry any physical ticket to travel in the Metro.
The AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gates of different stations of Blue Line and Orange Line have been upgraded to support this new ticketing system.
Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) has developed this ticketing solution which is expected to gain popularity in the coming days.
