RECORD PASSENGER EARNINGS IN A SINGLE DAY IN THE LAST 13 YEARS

Kolkata,Date:- 03.09.2024

 

Metro Railway has earned more than Rs. 1.33 crore from ferrying passengers o­n 02.09.24, which is the HIGHEST PASSENGER EARNINGS IN 13 YEARS. This is the second highest ever earnings in the history of Kolkata Metro in a day from passenger fare.On that day, total 7.5 lakh passengers travelled in Blue Line, Green Line-1, Green Line-2, Purple Line and Orange Line. More than 6.3 lakh passengers travelled in Blue Line o­n 02.09.24. In Green Line-2, around 56,000 passengers travelled.Around 51.5 thousand passengers were carried in GreenLine-1 yesterday.

 

Such impressive figures have o­nce again proved that Kolkata Metro has been gaining more popularity among the residents of Kolkata and adjoining districts. More and more commuters now prefer to travel in the Metro as it provides comfortable, cheap, fast and hassle-free journey for them. It is expected that in the coming days passenger figure in the Metro will further improve.

 

It is to be noted that o­n 01.08.2011, Kolkata Metro earned more than Rs. 1.47 crore from passenger fare. This has been the highest ever earnings of Kolkata Metro from passenger fare. o­n that day, Metro Railway introduced new Smart Card in the new AFC System. As a result, a huge number of commuters purchased Smart Cards o­n that day resulting in quantum jump in earnings from passenger fare.
