NORTH-SOUTH METRO CARRIED MORE THAN 17 CRORES PASSENGERS IN 2023

Kolkata Metro, since its inception in 1984, has been the mainstay of the transport system of Kolkata and the adjoining areas.With the passage of time, the popularity of Kolkata Metro has increased by leaps and bounds.This wide acceptance of Kolkata Metro as the ultimate solution provider of the traffic woes of Kolkata isgetting reflected in the passenger count of the oldest Metro Corridor of the country i.e. North-South Metro Corridor (Blue Line). From 1st January, 2023 to 31st December, 2023, North-South Metro has carried 17.69 crores passengers.This is almost 14.93% more than the passenger count of 2022 in this Corridor.In 2022, the passenger count of North-south Metro Corridor was 15.4 crores.This surge in passenger figure only signifies that for fast, hassle-free and smooth journeys, residents of Kolkata as well assuburbs have been preferring Kolkata Metro over the other modes of transport in the City of Joy.
On the last day of 2023 alone, North-South Metro has carried 3,37,287 passengers.Maximum passenger count (35814) has been recorded at Dum Dum followed by Esplanade (27164) and Rabindra Sadan (26374) on 31.12.2023.
