ALERTNESS OF RPF & OPERATING STAFF FOIL SUICIDE BID AT BELGACHIA METRO STATION

Today i.e. on 27.12.2023 at about 07.30 hrs, an old man aged around 73 years suddenly tried to jump on the DN track at the Dumdum-end of Belgachia station to commit suicide. At that time, one DN train was approaching the station. Alert on-duty RPF staff & Operating staff stopped him before the jump and foiled the suicide bid. The on-duty RPF and other station staff took him to the Station Manager's office. During interrogation, he, a resident of Belgachia, confessed that he was about to commit suicide due to his family problems.
His family members were contacted over phone and briefed about this incident. Station staff also informed Ultadanga Police Station at 7.46 hrs. Later, he was handed over to the police at 8.40 hrs. after observing all official formalities.
Metro services were not disrupted due to the promptness and alertness of the on-duty Metro staff of Belgachia Metro station.
Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway has expressed his happiness as a precious life could be saved due to the alertness of Metro staff.
