CRB AND CEO OF RAILWAY BOARD INSPECTS HOWRAH MAIDAN TO ESPLANADE STRETCH OF EAST WEST METRO (GREEN LINE)

Smt. Jaya Varma Sinha, CRB & CEO of Railway Board inspected Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of East West Metro today i.e. 28.11.2023.
Starting from Howrah Maidan station, CRB travelled upto Esplanade station in a Metro under the river Hooghly this morning. At Howrah Maidan Station, she was given a warm welcome by Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway. She held a detailed discussion about this project with GM and other senior officials of Metro and Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (KMRCL). Shri Reddy showed her the 3-d model and schematic diagram of East-West Metro Project and apprised her the progress of work. She later inspected Tunnel Ventilation System and different passenger amenities that are going to be provided at this station as well as lifts, escalators and AFC-PC gates. CRB & CEO, Railway Board also inspected different passenger safety measures taken at this station, fire alarm system etc. She also instructed all to ensure all passenger safety measures before commissioning of this stretch.
From Howrah Maidan, she travelled in the Motorman’s cabin of a Metro and reached Howrah station. There, she inspected Passenger Interchanging Points of Metro Railway with Eastern and South Eastern Railway. She instructed all concerned officials to make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth interchange of passengers amongst three railways.
Here, she also checked all escalators and lifts as well as station cooling system which will give passengers a smooth travelling experience. Then, she travelled under the river Hooghly, through the tunnel, first of its kind in India.
She concluded her inspection at Esplanade where she inspected passenger amenities, safety and security measures that are going to be adopted here as well as passenger interchanging arrangements between Blue Line and Green Line.
After the inspection, Smt. Jaya Varma Sinha expressed her happiness seeing the progress of works of this stretch and instructed all concerned officials to complete all pending works so that this stretch can be commissioned at the earliest.
Shri P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager, Metro Railway and other senior Metro officers and senior officials of Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL) accompanied CRB and CEO, Railway Board during this inspection.
