A DEAD BODY FOUND BESIDE METRO TRACKS, INVESTIGATION GOING on

Motorman of a Kavi Subhash - bound Metro (DK-32) had informed Central Control at 9.47 hrs today that a man was lying beside the DN line in between Rabindra Sarobar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations. Immediately after receiving this news, Metro officials sprang into action and an emergency power block was taken at 10.15 hrs to rescue the person. After taking the power block, Metro staff reached the spot and rescued the person and brought him to Mahanayak Uttam Kumar Station. A medical officer of Metro Railway attended him and declared him dead. He had head and leg injuries. The dead body was handed over to Regent Park Police Station at 10.50 hrs. Police personnel have taken the body from the station at 11.40 hrs. Identity of the person is not known.
Meanwhile, truncated Metro services were run in between Dakshineswar and Maidan stations. Normal service over the entire North-South Metro Corridor resumed at 10.59 hrs.
Officials of Regent Park Police station have been investigating this incident. Post-mortem of the dead body is being done at M.R. Bangur Hospital. Cause of the death can be ascertained after the post-mortem and police investigation.
